Great Food plus a Runaway Mine Train: Rancho del Zocalo
It's no secret that the overall food quality at Disneyland has improved by leaps and bounds in the last few years. Our favorite Frontierland dining option, Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante, offers more than just excellent Mexican food; you can watch the trains of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad rumble right past your table...if you know where to sit.
As you exit the main building with your tray-load of delicious chow, head for the sheltered tables along the wall bordering Big Thunder. The view isn't obvious until you take your seat and glance over to see one mine train after another rolling by within a few feet of your enchiladas.
It's the U.R. Courageous, my favorite BTMR locomotive!
As for the food itself, I've never been disappointed at Rancho del Zocalo, one of the resort's best cafeteria-style restaurants. Our favorite menu selections include the Carne Asada and Red Chile Enchilada platter, the Grilled Fish Tacos and the Burrito Sonora.
Great food and a close encounter with a classic E-ticket adventure -- what more could you ask of a Disneyland restaurant?
