Looking over what's available to purchase digitally from iTunes and Amazon MP3, it's easy to create a fantastic Disney Christmas playlist. Here are Mouse Troop's picks for the best of the best, but we encourage you to sample all the available tracks and make your own personal Disney Musical Winter Holiday Extravaganza!
From Disney Jingle Bell Fun:
- Santa Clause is Coming To Town (Mickey, Donald and Goofy)
- Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (Donald and Goofy)
- Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow (Donald and Daisy)
- Toyland (Goofy)
- It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas (Mickey and Minne)
Last year we raved about Jingle Bell Fun's charms, but why stop there when there are more great tracks waiting on previous collections...
From Disney Holiday Magic:
- The Most Wonderful Time of the Year (Daisy, Huey, Dewey and Louie)
- From All of Us to All of You (Jiminey Cricket and Mickey)
- Jingle Bell Rock (Ludwig Von Drake)
- White Christmas (Goofy)
Professor Ludwig Von Drake belts out "Jingle Bell Rock" better than Elvis Presley. I'm not kidding.
From Disney's Family Christmas:
- Sleigh Ride (Larry Groce, Mickey, Donald and Goofy)
- Here Comes Santa Clause (Larry Groce, Mickey, Donald and Goofy)
- Jingle Bells (Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy)
- Deck the Halls (Chorus, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald)
If you've ever watched the classic sing-along video, Disney's Twelve Days of Christmas, you'll immediately recognize the catchy renditions of" Sleigh Ride" and "Here Comes Santa Claus."
From Disney Karaoke Series - Christmas Favorites:
- The Twelve Days of Christmas (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goody, Scrooge McDuck, Nephews)
- Oh, Christmas Tree (Daisy, Mickey, Minnie, Ludwig Von Drake)
- We Wish You a Merry Christmas (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Scrooge, Nephews)
Again, more recognizable tracks from the sing-along video, though this version of "Twelve Days of Christmas" features the wonderful moment when Goofy blurts, "What is a Calling Bird?" And on "Oh, Christmas Tree," we again find Ludwig Von Drake in top form.
Now, just to add a sprinkling of Muppet zaniness to the mix...
From A Greeen and Red Christmas:
- The Most Wonderful Time of the Year (Gonzo & Rizzo)
- Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (Kermit)
There are a lot of fun tracks on this album, but I'm sticking with the classics for this list -- And the above two selections are amazing.
And, dipping into a another classic album...
- Little Saint Nick (Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem)
Catchy beyond words, and features Animal screaming "Run Run Reindeer!" over and over again. It's the greatest recording of this song ever.
And let's end with a bit of Park magic:
From The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights:
- Winter Wonderland
And there you have it: Twenty amazing tracks you can mix into the greatest Disney Christmas Album on Earth -- and there's only one repeated song (both versions are too much fun to leave out.)
Here's my version's song order:
Santa Claus is Coming To Town
The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer
Toyland
Sleigh Ride
Here Comes Santa Claus
From All of Us to All of You
Jingle Bell Rock
Jingle Bells
We Wish You a Merry Christmas
It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
Deck the Halls
Oh, Christmas Tree
White Christmas
The Twelve Days of Christmas
The Most Wonderful Time of the Year (Muppets)
Little Saint Nick
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Winter Wonderland
Why nothing from Muppet Christmas Carol? Because that soundtrack is a wonderful, complete Christmas album in itself, but if you feel like adding "It Feels Like Christmas" or "A Thankful Heart," by all means go for it!
Well, that's Mouse Troop's recommendation for the ultimate do-it-yourself Disney Christmas Album! If nothing else, I hope we've steered you toward some great tracks. Happy Holidays!
